Transfer Orders

You can process direct transfers, and transfers that require shipping and receiving.

Transfer orders using direct transfers

A direct transfer will have the Direct Transfer toggle turned on in Transfer Order page in Business Central.

  1. From the MDC Home screen, select Transfer Orders.

  2. On the Transfer Order screen, select the order you want to process by selecting the value in the Transfer-to field.

    Only released transfer orders are displayed. A direct transfer will have a value of True in the Direct Transfer field.

    After the order is selected, the lines in the transfer order are listed.

  3. Select the green circle for the line you want to process.

  4. Select Next.

  5. Populate the following fields as required:

    Field Description
    Qty to Receive Enter the quantity to transfer.
    Lot No. Enter the lot number of the item.
    Package No. Enter the package number of the item.
  6. Select Update.

  7. If applicable, repeat the steps to post any remaining lines.

  8. Select Post to ship and receive the transfer.

Transfer orders using shipping and receiving

Ship the order

  1. From the MDC Home screen, select Transfer Orders.

    The steps are different depending on if a warehouse shipment is required or not.

  2. If a warehouse shipment is required, perform the following steps, otherwise go to step 3:

    1. On the Transfer Order screen, select the order you want to process by selecting the value in the Transfer-from field.

      The value in the Transfer-from field is red if a warehouse shipment is required and you will be directed to a screen that allows you to create a warehouse shipment.

    2. Select Whse. Shipments.

    3. Select Create Whse. Shipment.

      A warehouse shipment is created for the lines on the transfer order.

    4. Select the warehouse shipment.

    5. Select the warehouse shipment line.

    6. Populate the following fields as required, selecting Next when needed:

      Field Description
      Bin Code Select the bin code that contains the items to ship.
      Qty to Ship Enter the quantity to ship.
      Lot No. Enter the lot number of the item.
      Package No. Enter the package number of the item.
    7. Select Next.

      You are returned to the warehouse shipment lines.

    8. Repeat the steps for the remaining lines.

    9. Select Post to post the warehouse shipment.

    10. Select Back to return to the list of transfer orders.

      The value in the Transfer-from field will show as green with a check mark to indicate the warehouse shipment is complete.

      You can now receive the order at the destination.

  3. If a warehouse shipment is not required, complete the following steps.

    1. On the Transfer Order screen, select the order you want to process by selecting the value in the Transfer-from field.

      The value in the Transfer-from field is black if a warehouse shipment is not required.

    2. Select the green circle for the line you want to process.

    3. Select Ship.

    4. Populate the following fields, selecting Next as needed:

      Field Description
      From Bin Enter the bin where the item is located.
      Qty. to Ship Enter the quantity being shipped for the transfer.
      Lot No. Enter the lot number of the item being shipped for the transfer.
      Package No. Enter the package number of the item being shipped for the transfer.
    5. Select Update to update the shipment item tracking.

      You are returned to the screen showing the transfer lines.

    6. Repeat the steps to ship the remaining transfer lines.

    7. When all of the shipment tracking is finished, select Post Ship to post the shipment.

    8. Select Back to return to the screen with the list of transfer orders.

      The value in the Transfer-from field will show as black with a check mark to indicate the shipment is complete.

      You can now receive the order at the destination.

Receive the order

You can receive the transfer orders where the shipment has been posted.

  1. From the MDC Home screen, select Transfer Orders.

    The steps are different depending on if a warehouse receipt is required or not.

  2. If a warehouse receipt is required, perform the following steps, otherwise go to step 3:

    1. On the Transfer Order screen, select the order you want to process by selecting the value in the Transfer-to field.

      The value in the Transfer-to field is red if a warehouse receipt is required and you will be directed to a screen that allows you to create a warehouse receipt.

    2. Select Create Whse. Receipt.

      A warehouse receipt is created for the lines on the transfer order.

    3. Select the warehouse receipt.

    4. Select Post to post the warehouse receipt lines.

    5. Select Back to return to the list of transfer orders.

      The transfer order is posted and removed from the list.

  3. If a warehouse receipt is not required, complete the following steps.

    1. On the Transfer Order screen, select the order you want to process by selecting the value in the Transfer-to field.

      The value in the Transfer-to field is black if a warehouse receipt is not required.

    2. Select the green circle for the line you want to process.

    3. Select Post Receive.

      The transfer order is posted and removed from the list.
