Set Up Staging Bins

You need to create the bins into which you will place the kits, and then assign the bin to a location, machine center or work center.

When a staging bin is pulled into a production order routing, it defaults from the first work center or machine center operation. If no bin is assigned, the system checks subsequent operations, and if none have a bin, it defaults to the location.

Assign a staging bin to a location

  1. Choose the icon, enter Locations, and then choose the related link.

  2. On the Locations page, open the location to which you want to add a staging bin.

  3. Create a staging bin if one does not exist.

    1. On the Location Card page, select Bins.

    2. On the Bins page, populate the following fields:

      Code Enter the code that represents the staging bin.
      Description Enter a description of the bin.
      Dedicated

      Select the checkbox.

      This checkbox must be selected in order to select it as a staging bin. Dedicated means that the items in the bin are prevented from being picked for other demands.

    3. Close the Bins page.

  4. On the Location Card page, in the Warehouse FastTab, populate the following field:

    Field Description
    Bin Mandatory

    Turn the toggle on.

    Bins must be mandatory when using the Material Staging app.

  5. In the Bins FastTab, populate the following field:

    Field Description
    Staging Bin Code

    Select the staging bin.

    The selected bin must have a selected Dedicated checkbox.

Assign a staging bin to a machine center or work center

You have the option of assigning a staging bin to a machine center or work center.

  1. Choose the icon, enter Work Centers, and then choose the related link.

    These same steps apply to machine centers.

  2. On the Work Centers page, open the work center to which you want to add a staging bin.

  3. On the Work Center Card page, in the Warehouse FastTab, populate the following fields:

    Field Description
    Location

    Select the location of the staging bin.

    For machine centers, the location defaults in from the selected work center.
    Staging Bin Code

    Select the staging bin.

    The selected bin must have a selected Dedicated checkbox.
