Assign Lot Algorithms

You can assign lot algorithms to an item template, one item at a time, or to multiple items at once.

Assign a lot algorithm to an item template

A default lot algorithm number can be set on the Item Template page. When defined, this value automatically defaults into the Lot Algorithm No. field on the Item Tracking FastTab of the Item Card page when a new item is created from the template.

1. Choose the icon, enter Item Templates, and then choose the related link.

2. Open an item template.

3. In the Item Tracking FastTab, populate the following fields:

   Field	Description
   Lot Nos.	If applicable, clear the field. You cannot choose a lot algorithm if the Lot Nos. field is populated.
   Lot Algorithm No.	Select the lot algorithm that will be assigned to items created from the template. If a lot algorithm is selected, the Lot Nos. field will be disabled.

Assign a lot algorithm to an item

1. Choose the icon, enter Items, and then choose the related link.

2. Open the Item Card page for the item.

3. In the Item Tracking FastTab, populate the following fields:

   Field	Description
   Lot Nos.	If applicable, clear the field. You cannot choose a lot algorithm if the Lot Nos. field is populated.
   Lot Algorithm No.	Select the lot algorithm that will be used to generate lot numbers for the item. If a lot algorithm is selected, the Lot Nos. field will be disabled.

   The same lot algorithm can be assigned to multiple items.

Assign a lot algorithm to multiple items

You can assign a lot algorithm to multiple items at once.

1. Choose the icon, enter Lot Algorithm Item Maintenance, and then choose the related link.

2. On the Lot Algorithm Item Maintenance page, in the Options FastTab, populate the following fields:

   Field	Description
   Action	Select the action you want to perform. Convert items to use a lot algorithm: Items within the filter will be converted to the selected lot algorithm. Any lot number series will be removed from the items. Convert items to use a lot number series: Items within the filter will be converted to the selected lot number series. Any lot algorithms will be removed from the items.
   New Lot Algorithm No.	Select the lot algorithm to apply to the items defined in the filter. If a lot algorithm is already assigned to the item, it will not be updated.
   New Lot Nos.	Select the lot number series to apply to the items defined in the filter. If a lot number series is already assigned to the item, it will not be updated.

3. Select OK.

   Tip

   You can set up a Lot Algorithm Item Maintenance batch job to run by selecting the Schedule button.
